Gems Medley: Carved Moonstone and Garnet Brooch in 14K Rose Gold
An Austrian, carved garnet and moonstone pansy with Old European Cut diamond leaves in silver, circa 1890. This beautifully designed and made brooch was imported to Austria between 1872 and 1922. The flower is approximately 1.2 x 1.5cm, riveted onto the textured gold branch allowing movement.
Hallmarked with an irregular hexagon containing a letter A, a fox head facing left, and a number 4, respectively. Letter A represents Vienna, the central assay office in Austria. Fox head is a standard for 14K gold, and the number 4 stands of the fourth stand in gold for Austria, which is 14k Gold. To the right of the hexagon is a Letter A in rectangle with cut-off corners to indicate that this was an imported item. The brooch is also stamped 14K.
This wonderful brooch has maintained it's glory for over 100 years, and presents in excellent condition. It is ready to shine for many years to come.
