Victorian 18ct Gold Citrine Brooch – c.1860s–1880s
A beautifully preserved example of Victorian-era jewellery, this antique brooch features a luminous 10.79 carat emerald-cut citrine, set in 18ct yellow gold. The citrine displays a rich golden hue with sharp, crisp facets and exceptional brilliance, held in a beautifully designed bezel gallery with claw setting that allows light to pass through effortlessly. The claws are thoughtfully positioned to protect the stone’s vulnerable corners, blending both form and function.
Dating to circa 1860–1880, the brooch retains its original hinged, long pin stem and C-clasp—hallmarks of mid-to-late 19th-century design. The clean lines of the faceted gem, paired with the understated elegance of the gold mount, reflect the period’s evolving preference for gemstone-centric jewellery that balances refinement with bold visual impact.
Condition: Excellent antique condition. Citrine is free of chips or cracks; gold mount shows minimal wear and retains its original clasp mechanism.
Gem Size: 16.5 x 12.0 x 8 mm (estimated weight ~10.79 ct)
