Georgian Pearl Mourning Ring with Inscription – Dated 1825
A poignant and beautifully preserved example of early 19th-century sentimentality, this Georgian mourning ring dates to 1825 and bears the original inscription: "Presented to Mr. Dun, 25 Nov 1825" on the reverse.
The ring features a rectangular glazed hair panel at its centre, surrounded by two delicate halos of natural seed pearls, each individually hand-set into a 9K gold mount. The pearls, symbolic of purity and tears, form a luminous frame that heightens the ring’s emotional resonance and visual elegance.
The pin is not gold, and the original clasp has been professionally replaced with a modern one, making the brooch secure and entirely wearable while preserving the historical integrity of the design.
Condition: Very good antique condition with light age-related wear. Some mellowing to the pearls, consistent with their age. The glazed hair panel remains intact. Clasp replacement noted but secure and functional.
Pearl Size: inner halo ~ 1.2mm and outer halo ~ 2.1mm
