Antique Victorian Belt Buckle Ring – 18ct Gold, Birmingham 1854
A charming and symbolic example of mid-Victorian jewellery, this antique belt buckle ring is crafted in rich 18ct yellow gold and fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1854. The belt and buckle motif was a popular design during the Victorian era, representing loyalty, strength, and enduring love—making it a meaningful and romantic piece.
The ring features a finely detailed buckle clasp design, with elegant engraved accents and rope-twist borders enhancing the band. Set to the front is a vivid blue gemstone—likely a sapphire—flanked by two old-cut diamonds, adding a refined sparkle and beautiful contrast to the warm gold setting. The stones are set within square collets, giving the ring a beautiful symmetry.
The ring is beautifully preserved and wearable piece of Victorian history, ideal for collectors or as a distinctive alternative engagement or statement ring.
The maker’s mark is present but rubbed, appearing to read “W&B,” consistent with wear expected from a piece of this age.
Condition: Presented in good antique condition. There is light surface wear commensurate with age, including some softening to the maker’s mark. The gemstones appear secure, and the buckle detail remains crisp and well-defined.
Band Width: ~ 1.0 cm tapered to 0.65 cm towards the back.
